Patrick Cairns Safaris (PC Safaris) is owned and operated by Patrick Cairns as an outfitter and professional hunter. Patrick has had an enduring passion for Africa’s wildlife from a very young age, spending every available minute outdoors. Patrick qualified as a game ranger in 1997, and was accepted to do his practical training in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, after which he worked in Addo National park where he completed his research on Capture Management of Black Rhino in the late 90’s. Patrick’s diploma in Nature Conservation has given him the background and understanding of how hunting and conservation work together to protect Africa’s wildlife. He went on to complete his professional hunter’s licence, and later also obtained his outfitter’s licence.
Patrick has worked in agriculture and farming, and for five years he pioneered an outdoor centre at the iThemba Trust where the focus was training youth within the Eastern Cape of South Africa on hunting and conservation with his Junior Hunters courses that became well known in the area. These courses gave Patrick the opportunity to share his love for the outdoors, as well as ethical hunting practices in fulfilment with his belief that the future of Africa’s wildlife is in the hands of the next generation. Patrick also loves gun dogs, especially English Pointers, and he enjoys taking clients out to hunt the exclusive Greywing partridge with his dog, Sadie. Patrick is married to Debra, a psychologist, and they have two boys, Sean and Ryan.
